Sprinkler Systems Planning and installation
This non-binding standard specifi es requirements and gives recommendations for the design, installation and maintenance of fi xed fi re sprinkler systems in buildings and industrial plants, and particular requirements or sprinkler systems which require high level of reliability.
It covers the classifi cation of hazards, provision of water supplies, components to be used, installation and testing of the system, maintenance, and the extension of existing systems, and identifi es construction details of buildings which are necessary for satisfactory performance of sprinkler systems.
It has been developed by prevention bodies, under the initiative of the insurers or their representatives grouped at European level in the Insurance Europe Prevention Forum.
The prevention bodies are: – ANPI asbl, Belgium – CEPREVEN, Spain – CNPP, France – DBI, Denmark – FPA (Fire Protection Association), United Kingdom – VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH, Germany
and FPA members and their colleagues/ guests, an expert panel of speakers has now been confirmed for the event. This will include: Jon Beesley, head of fire consultancy at Chubb Fire, talking about integrated fire and security systems; Matt Jones from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, discussing the region’s arson trends and measures; Andy Jones, head of risk engineering at MS Amlin, presenting on how well you know your building; and finally Tim Vincent, head of technical at Rockwool, on fire safety in high rise buildings.
