limitations of Personal Protection Watermist Systems in the homes of vulnerable people2

A flow chart taken from this guidance is reproduced in Figure 2 (right). Having assessed that a vulnerable person

would benefit from the additional protection of a PPS, fire suppression performance and reliability will be critical to their safety. LPS 1655: Requirements and test methods for the LPCB approval of personal protection watermist systems was developed by BRE Global to provide evidence based assurance about PPS.

BRE Global is an independent third

party approvals body offering certification of fire, security and sustainability products and services to an international market. Loss Prevention Standards are designed to help ensure that products meet specific performance requirements and the needs of users, and are particularly useful where new technology is being introduced or developed. LPS 1655 contains system design

requirements, including minimum levels of performance and functionality, system manual and installer requirements, fire test protocols and maintenance arrangements, and also covers component examination and testing. In addition, it provides a mechanism for ongoing production checks on PPS systems and components through regular
