ho can resist the spectacle of British pomp and ceremony? This country does it like no other. For
example, it attracts thousands of tourists every year, who descend from the four corners of the globe to our capital city to experience Trooping the Colour. This event, which is part of our national
heritage, has been a tradition of British infantry regiments since the seventeenth century and, since 1748, Trooping the Colour has marked the official birthday of the sovereign, with Her Majesty the Queen traditionally attending and taking the salute. If you missed this year’s event, make
yourself a promise and visit London next June
to attend. The spectacle of some two hundred horses accompanied by close to 1,800 individuals, consisting of musicians and officers on parade, all choreographed with pin point accuracy, cannot be understated. The parade route wends its way from
Buckingham Palace along The Mall to Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and back again. Along the way, the bellowing commands of officers in charge of the parade, the finale of the 41-gun salute, and the culmination of the day with the fly-past by the Royal Air Force will remain in your memory for some time.
