Rock Up to launch two new indoor climbing sites

Birmingham and Hull. All sites offer 26 climbs with a variety of walls towering over 8m high. As well as the 2,000sq ft climbing arena, each venue also includes a soft-play area, café and function rooms for parties and private hire. “This is a pivotal year for the business, as we

Rock Up is opening two new indoor climbing sites at intu Watford in Hertfordshire and Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre in Northampton, with a further site planned for later in the year. The operator has experienced significant

annual growth after securing contracts with UK property developers and shopping centre owners including intu, The Crown Estate and British Land. Last year the company announced sales growth of 87 per cent year-on-year and expects to generate over £2.5m in annual sales this year. The company, formed by ex-climber Aaran Eade, has three venues in Fareham,

double the number of current sites and plan for further expansion at more locations, making us a truly national company. We find we are providing shopping centres and similar outlets with a highly attractive and unique proposition that utilises less space than other leisure activities, is quick to install and more importantly, enhances their overall customer offering,” says Heidi Duckworth, executive chairman of Rock Up, a Harvard MBA who spent many years working in private equity in the City. The expansion plans are being led by a

senior management team also consisting of operations director Aaran Eade and sales and marketing director Mark de Quervain, who worked for many years at Vue Entertainment, where he was part of the founding management team.

Everyone Active invests £1m in partnership with Solihull Council

Everyone Active, the trading name for Sports & Leisure Management Ltd (SLM), is to invest £1m in the first year of its partnership with Solihull Council. The 10-year partnership sees Everyone Active

managing North Solihull Sports Centre and Tudor Grange Leisure Centre from June 2018. The overall aim of the partnership is to ensure that the facilities encourage more residents to take part in physical activity more often. Councillor Robert Hulland, Solihull Council’s

cabinet member for resources and delivering value, said: “Following an extensive procurement process, I am delighted to welcome Everyone Active aboard. Not only has this saved the council around £1.4m, but Everyone Active is committed to investing £1m in their first year with us so we are saving money and increasing our leisure offer to residents.”
