4 CRAFTBUTCHER l OCTOBER 2017
we will be e-mailing you shortly to ask you to verify this information.
• If you believe you are on the register but do not receive an e-mail asking you to verify your details you should contact us.
• For members wishing to join or leave the scheme
you should notify us as soon as possible.
• Te Federation’s responsibility is to ensure that members who have signed up to PA are aware that they are in the scheme, how it operates and what it means. If you are unsure contact us.
NOTE: Members trying to join PA in the last few weeks have discovered that their registration has been delayed. Te PA Register was deliberately closed to new businesses for a short period to ensure a smooth transition to the new system. However, registrations are now back on track so you
will be hearing more soon. (We may need to contact you just to confirm a few minor details.)
FOOD HYGIENE
• Your main obligation remains that you follow Premier Advice.
• Regulators are now required to know which businesses they regulate are in PA and if they are following assured advice. Tis means that if you get a visit from a regulator make sure they are fully aware that you are in PA.
• In the case where legislation has been devolved, such as Wales, an English local authority is unable to offer advice to any businesses operating in this area. Such advice can only come from a Welsh local authority, or, where advice issued by an English LA has been agreed with and consented by a Welsh LA. Te Federation and Horsham are currently working with Shared Regulatory Services, Bridgend, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan to formalise such an agreement to ensure our members in Wales are covered.
ONLINE TRAINING HAVE you checked out our new online training packages yet? Provided in conjunction with the Safer Food Group and accessed via our website at www. nfmſ
t.co.uk the courses enable students to work at their own pace and are already proving popular with members. Te most popular
course, “Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate”, is
fully accredited and great value at only £12. You can also try the “DEMO” and check out the FAQs before you buy. Also available is a Level
3 Food Hygiene course for supervisors (£89) and level 2 in Health and Safety (also £12). (When selecting level 2
food hygiene course choose the “catering” option rather than “retail” as this is more suitable for butchers.)
• Primary Authority partnerships will be able to request support from certain national regulators, that are specified as ‘supporting regulators’, in relation to the development of Primary Authority Advice. One of
the supporting regulators is the Food Standards Agency (FSA). Te NFMFT and Horsham have invited the FSA to support us in the development of assured advice for butchers wishing to supply raw beef mince intended to be eaten less than thoroughly cooked.
• We will now be able to include businesses which already have existing direct primary authority partnerships to join our co-ordinated partnership.
• Businesses can now be a member of more than one trade association or regulated group and benefit from Primary Authority Advice through more than one co-ordinated partnership
• Standalone businesses can now join PA in their own right.
• Business start-ups can now join the scheme even before they start trading
