Efficient use of feed is a way to mitigate the global crisis of rising raw material prices and environmental impacts

The price of feed remains high globally, making the efficient use of these resources urgent. We can measure several efficiency key performance indicators (KPIs) in milk and meat production systems. Feed efficiency, the relationship between production and feed intake, can be measured in litres of milk or kg of body weight gain (meat) produced for each kg of dry matter ingested. Feed efficiency is an excellent KPI because we can call it an integrating variable; that is, we can improve this index based on different decision-making on the farm. Acting in health, nutrition, and animal management can promote
considerable increases in feed efficiency. Feed efficiency also integrates economic and environmental sustainability, as there is a positive correlation between efficiency and return on investment (ROI) and a negative correlation between efficiency and waste through manure, carbon footprint, feed demand, etc. From this perspective, there are studies demonstrating that
the natural ingredient produced from Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, RumenYeast®

animal health. The production and feed intake observed in each study performed with RumenYeast®
quantify the average effect on feed efficiency. In dairy cows, the supplementation of RumenYeast®

resulted in an average increase in feed efficiency of 6%. For the finishing period (body weight gain), the average increase observed was 4%. These improvements were mainly due to increased production, with an average of 4% in milk production and 3% in weight gain (Table 1). by the technology. The yeast metabolites will modulate the ruminal environment, enhancing digestibility and producing more energy for meat or milk production. Additionally, the β-glucans and mannan oligosaccharides will act on intestinal modulation through interaction with cells of the innate immune system, impacting the eubiosis of the intestinal microbiota and adsorption of toxins. Thus, this intestinal modulation supports better animal health, reducing undesirable metabolic costs.
