Cardiff restaurant launches initiative to combat loneliness
Cosy Club has launched an initiative that aims to combat loneliness in over 65’s in the capital city. Free Teas for OAPs will be taking place at 10- 11am each Wednesday in the restaurant, located in St David’s Cardiff, where attendees can join in and enjoy a free cup of tea, board games, and the opportunity to meet and chat with new people. With over three quarters of older people in the UK experiencing loneliness, and over 75,000 in Wales describing themselves as ‘always or often’ lonely*, the Cosy Club initiative, aims

“There is no catch to Free Teas for ‘OAPs’, we just believe that it’s a nice thing to do, and hope that everyone passes this on to people in your family or community who may benefi t from meeting new people, and a good cup of
tea of course.”
Commenting on the initiative, St David’s General Manager Steven Madeley said: “It’s fantastic to see Cosy Club tackling local and national issues such as loneliness and doing something about it. More and more we are seeing the community of Cardiff and beyond come out in force to support local people”. Whether it’s a family

Buzz searching infi nity and beyond for new home
Dogs Trust Bridgend has declared an intergalactic emergency as they search the galaxies for a home for Crossbreed, Buzz. Named after the space ranger from the Toy Story fi lms, the 18-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross is hoping to crash land into an out of this world home very soon. The loveable hound found himself in the care of the Pen-y-Fai rehoming centre when his owners separated. He is a fi rm favourite with canine carers who are hoping that a loving new owner will soon come from infi nity and beyond to offer him a new home. Angela Wetherall, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Bridgend, said: “Buzz is a wonderful boy who is extremely affectionate and loves the company of people. He’s full of beans and very excitable meaning new owners will need to be able to provide physical and mental stimulation to keep him occupied”. If you could offer Buzz a home in your universe, please contact Dogs Trust Bridgend on 0300 303 0292 or visit at Court Colman Farm, Pen-y-Fai, Bridgend, CF31 4NG.
