the Mediterranean like no other. For almost ten years, the first international standard marina in the region has provided boat owners with a full-service destination, welcoming sailors to sample the tranquility and natural wonders of the island’s unspoilt northern shores while they enjoy the highest levels of service, berthing, and amenities. Karpaz Gate Marina is now set to embark on a landmark tenth season in 2021 and launch the next exciting phase of development, opening the doors to the first guests at its inviting on-site hotel, hamam and spa. Further elevating the marina into a complete resort for boat owners, crew, international tourists and the island’s residents, the new accommodation looks set to strengthen the positive impact of this development for the yachting industry, local community and tourism in North Cyprus.
From the moment the Karpaz Gate Marina project was initiated, the central philosophies have been to respect the beauty of the natural surroundings, emphasise sustainability and the environment, dedicate meticulous attention to customer service, and maintain an exceptional standard of leisure facilities and technical capabilities. After opening in 2011, the marina’s ambitious benchmark has been rewarded with 5 Gold Anchor status, plus recognition by berth holders in The Yacht Harbour Association’s prestigious Marina of the

Year Awards in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Much of the Karpaz peninsula remains gloriously untouched, with its golden beaches, crystal clear waters and breath-taking coastline, so it was essential that the design of the development reflected an awareness of this relative remoteness so rarely found in a Mediterranean marina. The addition of the new hotel continues the original themes, offering visitors a harmonious balance of style and modern facilities with an authenticity and sensitivity that remains true to the peace, natural beauty and culture of North Cyprus.
The 52-room boutique hotel is designed to assimilate perfectly with the marina setting, featuring a distinct nautical theme, complete with touches such as teak deck floors, white wood washed ceilings and sailing visuals. It has 44 standard cabins, four family corner cabins and four VIP cabins, all with marina, sea or garden views from the balcony. Offering treatment rooms, saunas
and traditional hamam, the resort’s new spa allows hotel guests, marina clients and other visitors to embrace the spirit and culture of North Cyprus.
Managing Director Liza Singer, who has been involved with the project since its inception in 2005, is looking forward to strengthening the accessibility and appeal of the region for superyacht owners and other visitors with the creation of a true marina resort that is immersed in the genuine nature and culture of the Mediterranean. She said: “We have always believed in the potential of the Karpaz region and North Cyprus as a cruising area and destination for yachts and other tourists. Inspired by our local surroundings, natural assets and community spirit, Karpaz Gate Marina was specifically created to cater for the needs of superyachts and yachts and we are very proud of the achievement of opening up an internationally embargoed country to the yachting industry. Although we have
