Sword & Trowel 2018: Issue 1

applause at the end, so great was their delight. In February of this year, David Elangovan’s son, also a doctor, completed an Android app which contains all the words (Tamil and English) and music of the hymnbook, enabling individual believers to learn the hymns. The automatic organist software (Tamil edition) is freely available for churches with a laptop, but the (free) app will also lead singing with a Bluetooth loud- speaker. Tamil pastors at conferences were each presented with a hymnbook and CD, but supplies of the words edition are now needed for their churches. To fund further reprints and supply these churches is a pressing matter, for contemporary worship ruins churches, and

those without good hymnbooks are particularly vulnerable.

Photos below show the church in Thampalagaman, Sri Lanka. Top photo: Mrs Joan Laws teaching the Sunday School. Bottom photo: the morning service.

The Charismatic Illusion, Do We Have a Policy? and The Personal Spiritual Life have been translated into Tamil. (Available in the UK from the Tabernacle Bookshop.)
