with the arrival of the latest emission control legislation in London. Only brand-new buses now satisfy the regula- tions, and the replacing of our entire fl eet is prohibitively expensive. In the short to medium term the Tabernacle will have to pay the penalties, adding considerable ex- pense to our substantial Sunday School and Bible Class work. It will take several years for second-hand prices to fall within a practical range, and we will need to build up funds for that time. To this end a Bus Fund is being opened. It may be that viable commercial conversion kits may appear, to en- able older vehicles to achieve the new
standards, but that remains to be seen.
The success of bussing for large- scale Sunday School work has been proved over nearly fi ve decades at the Tabernacle, and we pray that we will be enabled to continue to operate our many vehicles.
