Sword & Trowel 2018: Issue 1

‘If any man come to me, and hate not [comparatively] his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple’ (Luke 14.26). Please pray as we counsel and guide these young people that they may make right choices when they get married. The Lord has answered prayer for

our brother Ramu, whose Hindu parents are permitting him to attend church. We recently had an opportunity to share the Gospel with them. Current- ly Ramu is writing tests to qualify for a government job. He has recently lost a job opportunity because, as a Christian, he was not willing to pay a bribe. On 2 September, we hosted a ‘Refor- mation Conference’. Two brethren from other churches spoke on the signifi - cance of reformation in 2017. Around 140 people from different backgrounds and denominations attended and found it helpful and thought-provoking. Altogether, there are 22 pastors (in- cluding the twelve supported by us) attending the Bible Training Institute classes that take place for two days every month. Four of them will be completing the course this year. Rapid changes are taking place in our society. People are becoming more aggressive and radical in their religious beliefs. I believe that they are being stirred up by Hindu extremists, which has not been common in Vinukonda. Compared with Northern India, there

is a reasonable amount of religious tolerance and we still have freedom to distribute Gospel tracts in certain areas, but things are changing quickly. Please pray that the Lord would give us grace, boldness and confi dence in the Gospel, to proclaim it freely. Pastor Sunath Kumar is supported

by the Tabernacle’s Overseas Ministry Fund. (See page 29 for details.)
