Sword & Trowel 2017: Issue 1

Right: the congregation; below right: preaching takes place once a month on these buses.

into town, and speak again. With open doors and

windows and a noisy engine and surrounding traffi c, considerable volume of voice is needed to be heard. A range of attitudes is apparent on the faces of the hearers who will usually, however, grant a respectful hear- ing and receive an invitation. Other Christian groups attempt a bus ministry but usually to sell CDs and the like. No one else is bringing a clear biblical message direct to these hearers.

Conference ministry From 14th

to 16th September (week-

day evenings and all day Saturday) the church held a conference to consider the history and nature of the Refor- mation and its application today in doctrine and practice. Speakers in ad-

dition to Pastor Soto were Pastor Jorge Castañeda (Bogotá, Colombia), Pastor Ábner Araújo (São Paulo, Brazil) and Pastor Pablo Huircapán (Temuco, Chile). Out of an overall attendance of 56, more than half were from outside the church.

Pastor Javier works part-time as a teacher, and is otherwise supported by the Tabernacle’s Overseas Ministry Fund. See page 5 for details.
