THE PASSIONATE VOICE OF OUR HIRE INDUSTRY
Here we go again…? This is beginning to resemble the scene at the end of ‘A Perfect Storm’, where George Clooney and crew, bedraggled by raging storms, finally glimpse a ray of sunlight and calmer weather moments before a monstrous wave blackens the horizon and capsizes the boat. Yup, heck only knows how this ‘rule of six’, locally imposed lockdowns and ever- changing government advice are going to affect the hire sector. And then, as we went to press, several reports suggested that COVID-19 was becoming even more contagious! Whatever the case, let’s hope these latest measures (assuming full compliance) will finish the virus off once and for all so we can get on with our lives and businesses. We have a busy edition in the meantime.
Hubbway Hire proved to be an interesting outing, Publisher’s Statement:

with a yard so vast that it is surveyed from a lofty captain’s chair, as if on the Starship Enterprise. We take a trip to Postpullers to learn about its spectacularly effective equipment, and we visit ladder manufacturers LFI, apparently following in the footsteps of the Queen Mum and Princess Margaret. In hugely stark contrast, Adam B talks about dodgy dealings in the workplace, and Rental Rate Roy warns of a sizeable new entrant in the hire sector. I’m assured that many people look at the back page first, so head to page 40 without further ado, but make sure you read the rest of the mag afterwards…
