No barriers to hire as a career path Another exam season has drawn to a close and students are now thinking about what
the future holds for them and what career path they might take. HAE has been working hard to raise awareness of the hire industry. We’re determined to attract people from all age groups, skill sets and backgrounds, to boost the workforce in the tool, plant and equipment hire sector. The hire industry is always on the lookout for ambitious, talented individuals who want
to put their passion and energy into helping support the hire industry, be that working in a construction-related hire role, or taking the other career paths on offer in the event hire sector. HAE has been very vocal in getting the message across to young people of the opportunities available for sustained employment. We have taken part in careers days
at schools to promote hire as well as being quick to embrace recent government initiatives such as the Kickstart scheme, and The Gatsby Benchmark, as well as forming a partnership with MyKindaFuture for year 10,11 and 12 students. However, it’s not just about career provision for students and school leavers. We also
encouraged members to take part in The Women in Leadership, management residential programme, another great vehicle for anyone considering management roles in the hire industry. Whilst not exclusively for women, there are incentives for women to attend as we aim to make the industry more gender diverse. With the number of job vacancies in the UK outstripping people in unemployment, the UK labour market remains hot.
We are spreading our net further to encourage workers from other industries that they could utilise their talents within the hire sector. HAE is pulling out all the stops for people whether they are just starting their working life or are considering a career change. However, there’s nothing like word of mouth. If you know a person that could turn their hand to the hire industry then tell them of the exciting job opportunities
