Site welfare product review - Market Report

Wernick The GreenSpace range of welfare cabins from Wernick offer high

quality accommodations with additional eco-friendly benefits. The sturdy and spacious units can be configured to suit most needs

on a worksite, including offices, meeting rooms, sanitation and changing facilities, canteens and kitchens. Double-glazed and windows with shutters, high levels of insulation in roof and wall cavities, heavy duty door closures, low wattage LED lighting and constructional timber elements from sustainable sources all contribute to reduced energy usage and mean that open plan units have an EPC B rating. GreenSpace cabins have a 2.4m internal ceiling height and can be

stacked to three, four or even five storeys, depending on the model chosen. Modules are available from 3.6m to 12m, and fire-rating is also possible for the FMflex and Lite cabins.

MHM The MG 6000-5 welfare cabin-ready generator, from

South Wales-based supplier MHM, has been updated to withstand the rigours of the jobsite. Quietly delivering 6kVA (230V only), this robust and

compact unit is powered by an HVO-compatible Stage V Yanmar L100 engine with a heavy duty Mecc Alte alternator. Improvements in the updated model include a repositioned 230V socket, which is rotated by nine degrees to allow easier access and connection, while the engine is now mounted on a sliding tray for hassle-free service and maintenance. To the same end, the large maintenance hatch is moved to the rear of the unit, enabling access to the starter motor. The MG 6000-5 is designed to be used inside welfare

cabins, emitting just 54dBa at 7m. It is economical in use too, the air-cooled motor consuming only 1.4 litres of fuel per hour. Remote start/stop and GPS telemetry are available as optional extras.

Garic The Combi Eco Cabin 1.5 from site welfare specialists Garic demonstrates the

principles of the ‘circular economy’, reusing the structural elements of older cabins and refurbishing them using recyclable materials wherever possible. In a single unit, the company has been able to reclaim 2030kg from the steel

shell, 450kg from steel tanks and 96kg of timber. The cabins are then refitted to contemporary standards, being fully insulated, inclusive of all lighting and heating, and providing drying/changing and toilet facilities, and a canteen for up to ten operatives. The Combi Eco cabins are solar powered, backed by a quiet hybrid

generator – recent tests found that the generator was only used for 7.5% of the time during a ten-hour working night shift. Meanwhile, the integrated battery energy storage system and inverter mean that the cabin can be operational 24 hours a day.
