As cybercriminals begin to take advantage of the Covid-19 crisis, governments are preparing to respond

The government has indicated that it is coming out fighting when it comes to tackling those who see Covid-19 as an opportunity for cybercrime. Both the UK and the US have warned of malicious cyber activity by other states against organisations involved in the coronavirus response. Foreign secretary Dominic Raab used a

organisations by deploying COVID-19- related scams and phishing e-mails.’’ He went on to announce that the UK’s


National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency were publishing a joint warning about such groups. The warning comes less than a month


after the organisations issued a joint statement highlighting how malicious cyber actors were exploiting the current COVID-19 pandemic for their own objectives. NCSC said it had detected more UK government-branded scams relating to
