SKIP CHICK OF THE YEAR ANIA MOSIEWICZ GOWING & PURSEY SKIP HIRE 2018 F
ROM fi nding love to festival raving: it’s all guns blazing for football fanatic Ania. She brightened up September when
she appeared as our Skip Chick. Now Transport Controller at West London skip hire fi rm Gowing & Pursey, Ania Mosiewicz, is back – as our Skip Chick of the Year!
Congratulations Ania! Tell us what it feels like to be named our Skip Chick of the Year.
It’s absolutely amazing. I feel so honoured to receive such an award!
The pleasure is all ours. There’s not much to top becoming Skip Chick of the Year, but what else has been a highlight of 2018? I welcomed 2018 as a single woman. Then in March I went to the pub to watch Poland v Nigeria and met my boyfriend. A few months later I lost the property I was buying as getting out of my old mortgage was harder than I thought. I was devastated!
I went to Creamfi elds music festival and had the best time ever, and bought my Suzuki Bandit. I got my licence in 2011 but had never owned a bike before. It’s proper freedom once you are out on the road! Hopefully I’ll be moving into my own place soon, and now I’m Skip Chick of the Year. So 2018 feels special!
It’s been all go! We're amazed you’ve fi tted in time to answer our questions. What would you change about 2018? To be honest, I wouldn’t change a thing! As they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
We can’t avoid the B word in the past year. On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you by Brexit?
I should be ashamed of myself, but I wasn’t really interested in Brexit. I am not really a political person so, sorry, but it’s a 1.
We can relate to that! We reckon you’re a kind-hearted bunch at Gowing & Pursey - what good deeds have you been up to?
Each year we bake and sell cakes for the World’s Biggest Coff ee Morning. It’s a win-win situation as we ALL love cakes! We also do Christmas Jumper Day every year. Helping to save children’s lives couldn’t be any easier. I know it’s a micro thing compared to the problem, but little

by little does the trick. Any fun get-togethers with the workmates that you’d like to share? Barclaycard British Summer Time in Hyde Park was so much fun. We also had our fi rst Gowing & Pursey Quiz Night. I was looking forward to work-related questions but they were about the number of parking spaces in the car park, steps in the hallway and pictures on the wall! Even though my team came third out of four, I had an amazing time. We were also involved in a Debate Box Live event with Harrow Club W10. I am so glad we could be a part of the amazing work they do for young people in West London. We were very grateful to them for having us there. A round of applause for that: it sounds like a very good cause. What’s made you laugh this past year? There’s an app called Heads Up! I recommend it to everyone I know. Lots of fun, laughter and tears of happiness. The biggest laughs at work? Me becoming Transport Controller! Well deserved, we’re sure. Meanwhile, what does 2019 hold for you? Apart from waiting for my fl at and redecorating, I’m looking forward to my godson’s fi rst birthday in January. It means a trip to Germany, so I’m very excited. I can’t wait until my Moroccan holiday in March. A whole week of laying down on the beach and drinking… errrr… juice! Not long until we’re talking love and romance for Valentine’s Day. Will it be full of hearts and roses now that you have a new man? I really, really hope I’ll be in my own place by then, so I would love to have a nice, relaxing evening with my boyfriend. Nothing would make me happier! Other than discovering you don’t know much about the spaces in the offi ce car park at your quiz night, what else did you fi nd out last year? I discovered what an amazing chef my boyfriend is! Can you remember what last year’s New Year’s resolution was and did you keep it? Last year’s ‘New-Year, New-Me’ resolution was giving up sugar and giving up my marriage! I mean no sugar in tea or coff ee - I wouldn’t be able to live without a chocolate bar! Isn’t it scientifi cally proven
that chocolate actually improves the mood, causes a feeling of contentment, brightens the mind and increases the fl ow of energy and endorphins, which is the happiness hormone? 2018 was a great year for sport, from football to F1. What were you watching? All of Poland’s football matches. They’re not on their best form at the moment but there’s always hope! Who is your own ‘Person of the Year?’ I’m thankful to my best friend Marlena who always supported me. She is the kind of friend that will always back you up if you are right and bust your chops if you’re wrong. You need someone honest in your life. We even got the same tattoos behind our ears. I’m not sentimental but it felt really good. Last year people thought more about wasting less after programmes like Blue Planet II. What rule would you impose to make us all a bit more environmentally friendly? I would ask that everyone uses reusable water bottles and coff ee cups instead of all the single-use plastic. We’ve just added bamboo coff ee cups as the latest addition to our eco-friendly range of merchandise, and this is just the start! Finally, how will you spend your Skip Chick of the Year winnings? It’s probably boring to you but extremely exciting to me – I’ll buy something for my new place, maybe a sink. Well before you pop off to the home showroom for a spending spree, we’d like to say thanks for being an absolutely fantastic Skip Chick of the Year! Gowing & Pursey, West London. Visit
