Gildan’s Q2 net sales up 3% on 2023 G


ildan has reported that its net sales for the second quarter of 2024 rose 3% over the prior year to $862m. Glenn J. Chamandy, president and CEO, said: “I am proud of the Gildan team’s ongoing dedication, delivering a solid top line performance in the second quarter with strong adjusted operating margin and double-digit adjusted diluted EPS1 growth. Further, I am excited to be back leading the company as we continue to focus on our Gildan Sustainable Growth Strategy (GSG) and celebrate a significant milestone with our company’s 40th anniversary this year. This is a period of significant opportunity in our industry, and we


believe that Gildan’s competitive position has never been stronger.” Gildan’s chairman of the board, Michael Kneeland, added: “Gildan’s new directors bring a wealth of expertise and fresh perspectives, and the Board is excited about supporting the Company in this next chapter, working closely with Glenn and the senior team and all stakeholders. During Q2 activewear sales of $737m, up by 6%, were driven by increased activewear shipments reflecting positive POS trends across all channels and markets. Furthermore, these strong sales reflected continued market


Continued demand leads to new appointments at The Outdoors Company


T


he Outdoors Company has announced several new appointments in response to increasing demand within the promotional merchandise sector. Following the company’s expansion into Europe, Tanja Read has joined as EU business development manager and is helping the company to grow their operations within the region. The opening of the company’s EU warehouse means they are now able to fulfil orders direct to EU clients where there is great appetite for retail brands.


Dan Rogers has been promoted to UK business development manager and will lead the continual growth of the company within the UK promotional merchandise industry. Tom Robinson, formerly of Brand


Addition, moves from distributor to supplier and joins the team as a key account manager. Lucy Ollier is the latest member to join the sales admin team and will support the key account managers with the business on administrative tasks, quotes and processing orders.


Director of The Outdoors Company, Paul Morley-Smith, said: “It certainly is exciting times here at TOC. We have restructured roles and responsibilities and increased the headcount by more than 20% in the last six months. This now gives us the platform to leap forward offering better account management for our mature UK business and the capacity to cope with the surge in demand coming from our rapidly expanding EU business and operations.”

Gross profit of $262m, or 30.4% of net sales were achieved during Q2, versus $217m or 25.8% during the same period in 2023. This was primarily driven by lower raw material and manufacturing input costs. Gildan’s focus on the remainder of 2024 continues to be on executing the GSG strategy initiated in 2022.


Regatta appoints new chief digital and technology officer

experience, tech and data and AI across the group.
