Kingly takes a step to plastic-free manufacturing by 2025

K

ingly has committed to eliminating all plastic from its manufacturing process by January 1, 2025. Kingly will discontinue the use of compostable bags, offering them only upon specific customer request.

Additionally, Kingly will replace plastic tags with recycled poly-cotton thread for attaching sock tags, ensuring a plastic-free tagging process.

In a move towards innovative packaging solutions, Kingly is introducing large dissolvable bags made from regenerated plastics. These new packaging solutions dissolve completely in hot water, leaving no trace and providing an eco-friendly alternative.

Furthermore, FSC-certified export boxes will now be secured with recycled reinforced Kraft tape, eliminating the use of traditional plastic packaging.

Robert Armour, CEO of Kingly, said: “By implementing these initiatives, Kingly aims to lead the industry in sustainable manufacturing practices.

“Our plastic-free initiative not only reduces our environmental footprint but also sets a new standard for eco-friendly production.”

In other news, a detailed report from third party auditor Intertek has confirmed Kingly’s socks are free from hazardous substances, and align with Unilever’s standards. According to the report, Kingly has achieved the following: • Successful compliance with Unilever’s hazardous substance testing;

• Positive validation from Intertek, the independent third-party agency;

• Strengthened partnership with Unilever and potential clients through enhanced trust in the compliance processes.
