Focus on Embroidery A global thread brand
Madeira threads are used globally by numerous brands, recognised for their quality, consistency, and availability from many partners and subsidiaries around the world.
The team at Madeira are often asked which threads should be used and why. The most important factor you need to consider is the end use of the product being embroidered as this will determine the type of thread required. The all-rounder for a variety of applications is the Classic range. This rayon viscose thread, made from high-quality renewable raw materials is available in four thicknesses for maximum fl exibility. For example, if a design stitched in 40 weight thread has fi ne details or small lettering these areas can be enhanced using thinner 60 weight thread in matching colours. Alternatively, a thicker 30 or 12 weight thread is ideal for large fi ll areas. Available in over 400 shades, washable up to 95°C, not bleach resistant. Polyneon, polyester threads are preferred when high colourfastness is essential. They are extremely durable and particularly suitable for items that may be exposed to damp environments, extreme weather conditions or are at risk of staining such as workwear, outdoor items, sportswear, and swimwear. Polyester threads can withstand industrial laundering as well as being resistant to bleach and chlorine. Choose from three thicknesses, each developed to facilitate the best results for different types of materials. With the increased demand for sustainable resource-friendly products the Madeira Green label was launched featuring two sustainable thread options. Polyneon Green is a recycled polyester thread made from 100% PET plastic bottles and Sensa Green is made from 100% biodegradable lyocell fi bres. In recognition of Maderia’s development in implementing sustainable solutions, the team were delighted to win the Sustainability Award from the Professional Clothing Institute (PCIAW). The extended Madeira thread portfolio includes metallic, wool mix and matt effect options, and for more specialist applications choose from conductive, refl ective, and fi re-resistant threads. In addition, Madeira supplies a range of high-quality backings and embroidery accessories to facilitate professional results whatever your project.
