ichelle Henriksen, owner of an online gift shop, has opened
her first retail store to fill a much-needed gap in the market. Personalised Gifts Ormskirk opened to the public on August 20 and sells hand-made jewellery, T shirts, hoodies, mugs, aprons, chopping boards, metal signs and much more. Ms Henriksen hand-makes or hand-prints every item in store, and almost every product can be personalised to include names, special messages or dates. She uses a variety of decoration methods including dye sublimation printing and white toner printing. Ms Henriksen said: “Right now, following the pandemic, it’s proving more important than ever that people support local. Equally, I believe in-person shops are becoming increasingly popular again – with more people wishing to purchase their

gifts in-person, right away. One reason for this is definitely an increase in people who are focusing on sustainability and the impact of their carbon
footprint. When ordering gifts from huge retailers online, it often comes with heaps of plastic packaging and the impact of constant deliveries isn’t exactly great for the environment – which I think people are starting to realise. fundraising challenge
yWorkwear has completed its latest fundraising challenge, following a pledge earlier in
the year to help fight dementia. Race Against Dementia was nominated as MyWorkwear’s charity for 2022/23 following the passing of its founder Mike Worthington to dementia with Lewy Bodies last year.
To raise funds for the charity, MyWorkwear’s managing director, James Worthington, undertook the Cannonbawz in August. The main event took on August 27 and 28, where 50 super, sports and classic cars toured around the NC500 in Scotland with stops in Applecross, Ullapool, Kylesku Bridge, Durness, Smoo Cave, John O’Groats and Dunrobin Castle. To make it even more of a challenge, Mr Worthington also drove both ways between Shropshire and Scotland as well, which meant a total of 1,500 miles.
Mr Worthington said: “Losing my father to this horrendous disease has made me determined to raise as much money as possible for Race Against Dementia.”
