Bouncing back with merchandise


As it’s September, we are now officially into the Golden Quarter where traditionally some businesses do the bulk of their business. Promotional products commentator, Stuart Derrick, reports.


T


his statement is especially true of many merchandise companies who have been the main suppliers for all manner of Christmas gifts, end of year thank yous, and staff party gizmos. Then as we’re straight into the new year there are the usual flood of diaries, wallcharts, pens, notebooks and mugs wishing the recipients a great and prosperous 2022.


It didn’t quite work like that last year with many of us working from home and anxiety being a more common feeling rather than goodwill to all men.


Things will be different


The latest ONS figures showed that UK GDP was up by 4.8% and on that basis the UK is performing better than its European neighbours and some experts think it will return to its February 2020 pre-pandemic size by October. Vaccination figures are high with more


than 75% of people over 18 having received both doses in the UK.


Meanwhile events – sports, festivals, theatre – are reopening allowing us to mix more freely than we have been able to for a while.


All in all, it is starting to look like some sort of normal again.
