Vinyl Guys opens new Print Business Growth Centre D
erby-based The Vinyl Guys will open its new Print Business Growth Centre on Sunday, September 5 when the company will host its first workshop.
The centre will be the new home to workshops hosted by The Vinyl Guys’ team to help small business owners develop their own print businesses. Presentations and workshops will cover topics such as; starting out, products and machinery, finding customers, using social media, pricing, materials, building relationships and growing your business.
In addition to this The Vinyl Guys is launching a UK first, giving the opportunity for business owners currently working from just a vinyl cutter who outsource or don’t currently even offer printed work, to come and

The idea is to let people experience first-hand, the product versatility and possibilities there are for their business with wide format print, without the expense of a machine or premises investment.
Alex Liggett, owner and founder of The Vinyl Guys, said: “The idea came from my own experience starting out.
My Workwear joins the fight to help reopen Exotic Zoo
M
y Workwear has recently supported Telford Exotic Zoo, which has been closed since
January 2020.
Just prior to the first lockdown hitting, the zoo lost its home in Priorslee and has spent the last unprecedented year trying to reopen. After a change in luck, lots of support from volunteers, Telford and Wrekin Council and a little bit of help from My Workwear, the zoo reopened at Telford Town Park on Saturday, July 24. James Worthington, managing director of My Workwear, said: “We were aware of the sad closure of this much-loved zoo during the pandemic, so when they approached us about new uniforms for
their volunteers, we were obviously more than happy to help. The team chose polos and T shirts in a forest green to complement their brand colours and new logo. The new uniform will ensure the team will be easily identified by all visitors at their reopening and beyond.” Owner of the exotic zoo, Scott Adams added: “I find it hard to put into words what the last 18 months have been like, from losing our home to facing the issues of a pandemic. It had been an enormous challenge but also heart-warming to see such support. We couldn’t have been more grateful to My Workwear when they came to our rescue with the fabulous new uniforms for our staff and 85 volunteers.”

I had a 600mm vinyl cutter in the spare bedroom and I was doing all I could to grow the business in order to buy my own wide format machine but outsourcing print had proved expensive, inconsistent and I was trying to learn how to prep artwork for print, understand the process and materials and work out how long it would take for the machine I would invest in, to pay for itself.
“I would have jumped at the chance to get my hands on a machine, be shown how to use it, get help with artwork prep and also reduce the cost of my print work to increase margins… so I thought, why not build this myself, so I did.”
