Disleyemployee marks 50 years of service K
en McKeown has not only just celebrated his 65th birthday, but also his 50th year of working at Disley. Mr McKeown started work at Disley on June 29, 1970 at the factory in Ligoniel Road, Belfast, when he was aged just 15. Starting in the warehouse making shirt boxes, this was a time when every shirt made was supplied in an individual box, he soon became an apprentice in the Cutting Room and began learning about all the technical processes involved in shirt making. Beginning with cutting interlining, moving onto pattern construction and grading, he learned all about the proportions of the human body and how to translate them into a pattern using just a square, measuring tape and pencil. Promoted to Cutting Room manager aged 21, Mr McKeown was responsible for a team of 20 people, at this time Disley’s factory employed around 400 staff and produced up to 15,000 garments a week. After gaining more experience in the Sample Room, he became quality manager in 1983. In the

eiger hosted its annual Geiger Galleria education, networking and sales conference in Maine on July 28 and 29, virtually for the first time. The motto for this year’s event was Push Harder, Climb Higher, Go Farther. Almost 300 salespeople and associates attended each day to learn new sales tactics, network with their peers and hear inspiring and informative keynote speakers.

Mr McKeown has gone on to oversee all aspects of quality management within all of Disley’s production facilities, setting up work processes, training staff and even servicing machinery. Sales director, Tony Hughes, said: “Ken has been instrumental in ensuring the fundamental principles of good garment production are adhered to at all times. His attention to detail and exceptional standards underpin the high-quality clothing that Disley is now well known for. We are hugely grateful for his unswerving loyalty and commitment.” Mr McKeown has no plans to retire any time soon and remains central to Disley’s operations. He says he’s putting off having to start the list of jobs his wife has planned for him.
The celebrations may have been muted for now, but as soon as guidelines permit, the Disley team will be gathering to mark this unique achievement.

The event kicked off with dynamic presentations from Caryn Kopp of Kopp Consulting on getting the first meeting with a client, David Nicholson, president of Polyconcept North America on the supply chain forecast and peer discussions on prospect generation and client presentation tactics. The second day featured Tom Armstrong, retired chief merchandising officer and senior VP at L.L. Bean presenting on 7 Imperatives for Excellence and Jo-an Lantz, Geiger president and CEO discussing Geiger’s financial outlook and the benefits of ambitious goal making, fearless pivots and making wellness a priority. A peer discussion on maintaining positivity followed.
Resolute adds IPA cleaning wipes to its made in the UK Premium range

esolute DTG has begun manufacture of IPA cleaning wipes for use on inkjet printers
in the UK.
Since the March lockdown it has become almost impossible to purchase pure IPA cleaning wipes, but to fulfil the inkjet demand Resolute DTG has started manufacture of its own product.
Sold under the Resolute Premium brand, originally created to include the Kodak products Resolute DTG launched almost two years ago,

the IPA cleaning wipes are supplied in a handy flip top tub that contain a true 75% IPA formulation and although not certified for medical use the wipes tick all the right boxes for quality
and performance. Unlike the normal quite large IPA wipes previously sold by Resolute this new product is sized more inline with its intended use. The 10x10cm wipes tear off individually and come ready to use.
rupa, the world's leading trade fair for printing technologies, will take place over nine days instead of 11 in 2021. By doing so, it is responding to the wishes of the partner association VDMA (Printing and Paper Technology Trade Association) and many exhibitors to make the trade fair presentation more efficient and to concentrate the volume of visitors in a targeted manner. This is also in reaction to any continuing travel activities and restrictions.
drupa president, Claus Bolza-Schünemann, said: “Since we are currently assuming that fewer visitors from overseas will be able to travel to drupa 2021, we consider a reduction from 11 to nine days to be sensible in order to direct visitor flows more efficiently. At the same time, the duration of nine days ensures that running machines can still be shown, which is a unique selling point of drupa,"
Despite some corona-related cancellations, the current booking status remains at a high level with over 1,500 exhibitors and a net hall space of more than 140,000sq m This once again underlines the industry's confidence in the international appeal of the event and the need for face-to-face meetings, acquisition of new customers or live presentation of running machines still exists.
In order to guarantee a professional and safe trade fair as usual, drupa not only adapted the general conditions but also relies on a hygiene and infection protection concept that is continuously adapted to the latest corona protection regulations and official requirements.
