Focus on Digital Printing

The term digital printing refers to methods of printing from a digital-based image directly to a variety of media. Here we look at everything from dye sublimation printing to direct to garment printing.

YES LTD The DTG digital game-changer T

he print-on-demand and fast fashion digital revolution of recent years has certainly been one of the key driving forces behind the continued growth and success of the direct to garment digital printing industry.

The QM8 industrial high-speed printer gives the customer a wide variety of print applications, including cut piece textile and full hide- leather digital printing.

Compatible with either pigment or reactive digital inks, the QM8

offers a total print area space of up to 1900x1100mm depth. In addition, the QM8 is available as a CMYK + W ink solution or dual CMYK only platform. This greener solution requires no water, no steaming or washing in process. An enhanced eight colour ink range delivers extended colour gamuts, great hand wash and light fastness to all natural fibres, 100% polyester and blends. It prints faster than any previous model, requires less maintenance and has the lowest consumable and service cost in the market.

rom pencils to pillow cases, Resoluteʼs got it covered with the 1800z multi-function UV printer and the high-end Ricoh Ri 3000 and Ri 6000 DTG printers. With its specially designed flexible UV

The Ricoh Ri 6000

inks the 1800z flatbed printer can handle most substrates, hard or flexible up to 310x600mm and a whopping 375mm product depth. Utilising flexible white ink and a clear primer/varnish the 1800z not only decorates complex made up garments like leather jackets, high vis workwear and wrist bands, it can also produce ADA compliant digital braille signage. The 1800z can also print cylindrical products like water bottles, wine bottles and many other shapes including conical champagne glasses. This can be in a simple flat print mode or utilise the tactile and textured in-line print modes exclusive to this UV system. When it comes to decorating garments with water-based inks the Ricoh Ri 3000 and Ri 6000 take over.

These high-end DTG printers use a high viscosity water-based ink allowing for a very thin layer of ink to be used on dark and light garments. This reduces print costs and produces a very soft hand even on dark garments when using white ink. The speed is made possible by using Ricohʼs stainless steel piezo print head technology. Ricohʼs figures quote the Ri 6000 can produce an A3 image on a T shirt in only 27 seconds. Automatic white ink circulation, closed cartridge ink system, on board touch screen job processing are just a few of the many features both models have as standard.
