Hoydens Workwear makes workwear designed for the female body Q
ualified painter and decorator, Annie Bowman, has designed a range of workwear especially for women.
Ms Bowman formed Hoydens
Workwear in Sheffield and has worked closely with a production laboratory and a Portuguese manufacturer to design work trousers that have stretch where it is needed, a higher waistband and in a material that responds to the needs of women.

"Having workwear that makes you look as if you belong to the profession is part of the parcel of feeling comfortable in your
job and while there is no definite evidence to support it, we feel it's possible that it's this sense of feeling uncomfortable or out of place in the workplace that discourages young women from considering a career in electrical or heating and plumbing professions.” Five of JTL's female apprentices tried on the new trousers and the response was unanimous – they were the best workwear trousers they had ever worn.
Ms Bowman said: "It was wonderful to see these girls genuinely chuffed with the new workwear we provided and to realise that there is a lot more to be said about designing and producing a range of workwear for young women here in the UK."

he Marlow-based showroom of New Zealand printwear brand AS Colour is now officially open. This follows the opening of a 17,000sq ft warehouse in the same town, which holds stock of around 80% of the full AS Colour product range. The showroom will feature the whole AS Colour range in every colourway and trade customers are more than welcome to pop in at any time.
It has been fitted out to replicate AS Colour's retail store format
in Australia and New Zealand. AS Colour was founded by Lawrence Railton in 2005.
