SOLʼS awarded ISO 50001:2011 certification for its energy management standards
I
n March 2017 SOL'S obtained its ISO 50001:2011 certification relating to energy management standard requirements. This rewards SOLʼS efforts over several years as part of its energy transition policy. SOLʼS started 2017 with a double success, since it had also just renewed its ISO 9001 quality management certification by implementing the demanding guidelines set out in 2015, so as to attain an enhanced quality of service. SOLʼS energy management actions are based around three main concepts: 1) Energy use in its Paris headquarters building: SOLʼS reduced its annual energy consumption by 10% in 2016. This was possible not only through the implementation of innovative solutions and technologies, but also thanks to a strong commitment by SOLʼS teams, who share the same values and practice eco-friendly behaviour on a daily basis. 2) Systematic use of several recycling policies: The introduction of a paper recycling circuit by way of the Recy'go system, run by the French postal service company La Poste, has increased SOLʼS energy saving by 10% each year since 2014 i.e. 2.5 tons of paper were recycled in 2016. SOLʼS has also actively been attempting since 2014 to
efficiently recycle its lighting systems, computer equipment, cardboard packaging and textile scraps. 3) SOLʼS is committed to extending its influence: SOLʼS consistently assesses its new suppliersʼ practices, to ensure that these are also committed to implementing a sustainable energy policy. This is a key element that SOLʼS clearly states in all its invitation to tender requirements across all areas of its organisation.

He added: "I had hoped to complete in approximately six hours and when I transitioned off the bike, I was feeling good and on track, then the heat became unbearable on the
run reaching 32-33°C, which was a slap in the face and every competitor suffered so was just happy to make it over the finish line.
"It was a great experience and atmosphere, I kept in mind every step of the way that I am lucky to be living without disability so was proud to be raising funds for such an important charity."
