Vapor Apparel’s Solar line earns seal of approval
T
he Skin Cancer Foundation has given Vapor Apparelʼs line of Solar shirts its Seal of Recommendation. This means that this line of shirts meets the foundationʼs criteria for effective UV sun protection. To earn the Seal of Recommendation, a manufacturer must provide scientific data showing that its product sufficiently and safely aids in the prevention of sun-induced damage to the skin. The data is reviewed by a volunteer committee of
photobiologists – experts in the study of the interaction between ultraviolet radiation and the skin.

Brandon Barber, director of manufacturing at Vapor Apparel, said:
“We are extremely pleased to be making this announcement. Our customers in North America and Europe have another reason to recommend our products to their most discerning clients.” Debroah S. Sarnoff, MD, president of The Skin Cancer Foundation, said: “Clothing is the first line of defence against the sunʼs harmful ultraviolet rays and an important part of a complete sun protection regimen. “Weʼre happy to welcome another great clothing brand to the Seal of Recommendation programme, our flagship consumer education initiative.” This is another positive event for a product that is growing the market for sublimation printers.

S
awgrass has released two updates to its Virtuoso HD Product Decorating System
software, both of which are designed to make mass customisation and personalisation of the products people love easier than ever. Virtuoso Print Manager (VPM) 5.0, the latest update to Sawgrassʼ first universal print

SG800 and VJ 628 printers, now offers faster printing, spot colour matching and greater
compatibility with desktop graphics programmes.
The June 2017 release of
CreativeStudio enables users to drive more sales with a Product Mock-Up Maker tool, zoom in on projects, crop photos and more. Virtuoso Print Manager launched earlier this year and is an all-in-one print management solution that works with both CreativeStudio and desktop design programmes, such as CorelDRAW and Adobe Creative Cloud.

TheMagicTouch and Regatta carry out R&D
T
heMagicTouch teamed up with Regatta Professional to conduct some extensive research and development to establish and perfect the best options to decorate Regattaʼs growing range of jackets and garments.
Over a two week period the technical team at TheMagicTouchʼs Dunstable-based headquarters produced and applied an extensive range of transfers produced using the existing 123Flex,
MagiCut Flock, Reflective, Printable
Soldark and full colour WoW transfer products. A spokesman
for TheMagicTouch said: “Traditionally outdoor products have been perfect for the embroidery process and will continue to be so, however with the growing demand for full colour logos, personalisation, lower order size and quicker turnaround TheMagicTouch transfer process offers a flexible and quality option for all garment decorators. The other factor for consideration was the effect of selected garments being no longer 100% waterproof when penetrated by embroidery needles.”
The range of garments included fabrics in various colours of
softshell, polyamide, down insulated, water- repellent polyesters and Isotex waterproof performance materials.
One key factor established during the research was the importance to avoid any marking or scorching while applying the transfers using the traditional heat press method.
The spokesman added: “This issue is very relevant today with higher value garments and expected high print quality to be attained. With many of the new polyester and performance fabrics being very sensitive to heat and pressure this issue has been solved with application temperatures being as low as 110-120°C.
“While never being considered as the total solution for garment decoration TheMagicTouch offers some great alternative options at very affordable prices in both printers and cutters together with transfer papers and flex products.”
