t a special event held at the Roland Creative Centre in Geel, Belgium, three judges selected Peak UK as the winner of the Roland Heroes
Peak UK is the brainchild of former canoe slalom athlete Pete Astles. It is a kayaking apparel company built from the ground up. Mr Astles sells his own cutting-edge designs, branded with Roland Texart dye sublimation equipment, to international customers including Olympic teams. Heʼs seen his kit go to the Games in London and Rio, helping the worldʼs best athletes grab Olympic glory. Mr Astles said: "I was really proud of our story – great product, great use of sublimation printing. It's so great to get recognition outside of our sport and our industry for the products we make.

"It's a real reward for our team here. Everybody's been involved in the design process, the selling, the shipping, the manufacturing, so it's a really great team effort. Everyone should be proud. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Roland and the judges!"
The judges were Beth Kempton, author and motivational speaker, Christian Duyckaerts, FESPA president and Gillian Montanaro, Roland DG EMEAʼs head of marketing. They loved Mr Astlesʼ creativity, determination, focus and passion, how he found a niche a took it global, and how he demonstrates that itʼs not just the person on the podium who works to win medals. Mr Astles said the Peak UK team was blown away by the award and has suggested heʼll be choosing a trip to Thailand for his prize.
