Epson champions students O

ver the last few months Epson has worked closely with students from two universities to help them in their field of work.

Epson recently ran a hands-on day for BA Textile Design students at Birmingham City University where they learnt how to achieve the best quality printed results with inkjet technology.

The team from Epson guided the students through colour space and the reasons for setting up their files in RGB, followed by showing the students their files printed from different settings so that the theoretical knowledge was translated into practical results. And in February, during London Fashion Week, five students showcased their designs that were created using Epsonʼs dye

sublimation printers. Scottish student Oscar Doak, who spent a substantial amount of his

placement year with Chanel in Paris, produced a collection

Gildan joins top companies to drive business ethics

G

ildan has joined Ethisphere's Business Ethics Leadership Alliance (BELA); a global community of companies who recognise the value of ethical leadership and who are working together to move forward with ethics and integrity. Lindsay Matthews, vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, Gildan Activewear, said: "Being part of a collaborative community focused on sharing of best practices for ethics and compliance will allow us to bring the best of what we are doing as well as our challenges to the table and learn from others across the board spectrum of industries. Good compliance practices simply make for better businesses." Erica Salmon-Byrne, executive vice president and executive director, BELA, said: "BELA brings together a community of hundreds of companies that are committed to building an environment in which best practices are shared. Research - including Ethisphere's - shows how organisations with a strong ethical culture regularly outperform their peers. We are proud to partner with our members to develop new platforms that will help raise the ethical standards at companies in the region and globally."

As members of BELA, Gildan will have access to information related to best practices of major corporations. BELA members also have the ability to benchmark their ethics and compliance program and practices to those of the World's Most Ethical. Ms Matthews added: "Companies are no longer pursing compliance as a legal prerequisite demanded by stakeholders, they are realising how important it is to pursue value-based compliance that is in line with their corporate ethos. Our company's commitment to ethical business practices filters into every aspect of what we do and contributes to a strong corporate culture based on trust and transparency." BELA was founded by Ethisphere Institute, post the financial crisis in 2008. Founding members include PepsiCo and Walmart. BELA's membership has grown to an over 250 member community of companies who recognise the inherent value of organisation's promoting ethical leadership and world- class compliance culture.
