Focus on Screen Printing
Whether you use an automatic or a manual press, water-based or plastisol inks, the screen printing industry is an exciting place to be right now. Check out what’s new over the following few pages.
Permaset Pushing further with sustainability
Permaset screen printing inks manufacturer, Colormaker Industries, is further refi ning its water-based inks’ sustainability credentials and product performance, fi rmly consolidating the Australian manufacturer’s reputation as a leader in eco-friendly screen printing inks.
Colormaker Industries installed a 100-kW solar array on the roof of its Brookvale factory in September 2019, which powers all Permaset production processes and has to date saved over 250 tonnes of greenhouse gases. Colormaker continues to explore new methods to reduce energy consumption and is in the process of modifying practices on the shop fl oor to improve water recycling and further cut electricity usage. Permaset packaging is also being sustainably upgraded, with the fi rst Permaset inks in R-PET 300ml jars now heading out to customers and stores. Permaset ink ranges have been eco-friendly for many years. However, that hasn’t stopped Colormaker’s R&D team from exploring continuous product improvements in relation to organic and product performance. These improvements have resulted in the inks being even kinder to the planet, safer for the user and performing even better on the screen. In line with this ethos, Colormaker’s Permatone range, the Permaset Process colours and Permaset Supercover First Down White have all recently been approved by to the Soil Association Approval to the more exacting GOTS Version 6.0. This means that it is now even kinder to the environment and safer for printers and their customers.
The compost challenge
Permaset eco-friendly ink prints were recently put to a compost challenge by Melbourne yardage designer Ink and Spindle and passed with fl ying colours. All that was left of this cushion cover after weeks in a worm farm was the zip. Permaset inks are now 85% bio-degradable making them the perfect choice for screen printers wanting to print organic garments and fabrics including hemp, linen and organic cotton.
Permaset inks are distributed in the UK by Steve Wood Services.
