Alexandra looks to the future with new PPE team

A

lexandra has recruited a dedicated team with over 65 years combined experience to put an enhanced focus on its PPE portfolio.

The team is being led by Diane Buckley who has returned to the company she enjoyed a 15-year career with before leaving to manage the South West and then national accounts for a major PPE supplier.

Working with Ms Buckley is Sandie Morris and Eve Jenkins as PPE account executives, both recently having joined the Alexandra family, both have a great knowledge of the industry. Much of their role will involve visiting potential and existing clients to understand and identify their PPE needs so a tailored offering can then be produced for each customer.

Alexandra Workwear partners with ELITE to produce scrubs for NHS Wales

lexandra has partnered with charity ELITE Supported Employment to supply scrubs

and PPE for NHS Wales.

ELITE was asked by Alexandra to manufacture scrubs and PPE for NHS Wales in June 2020. The partnership has gone from strength to strength and the charity is also now producing thousands of aprons, coats and tunics from its base in Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, which are sold by Alexandra.

The partnership has given opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged people to get into work, and ELITE’s existing staff were also able to remain at work rather than be furloughed.

The charity also operates a number of social enterprises to provide a stepping-stone to work, through accredited training, volunteering and supported paid employment.

This expansion means the creation of a new sales offi ce, engineers’ workshop and a second user showroom. In addition, the warehouse now has an extra 4,500sq ft of space to keep up with demand.

rutex, alongside Outwood Grange Academies Trust, is launching a new campaign to promote donation of used school uniform for recycle and resell to parents.

As part of the campaign, each of the 30 Outwood academies across the North of England will house a recycle bin that will enable students and their families to donate items of school uniform that they no longer wear or need. These items will then be collected by Trutex to be repaired, if necessary, washed and made ready for purchase as preloved uniform items. The fi gures behind the reason for the campaign are eye-catching as by extending the life of clothing by just nine months can

reduce carbon and water usage by up to 10%, while helping reduce the staggering amount of garments that are sent to landfi ll in the UK every year, a fi gure that currently stands at over 350,000 tonnes of clothing each year.

The campaign between Trutex and Outwood sees the partnership between the two building on the success of the last academic year, which saw over 600,000 plastic bottles saved from landfi ll thanks to Outwood uniforms being made using fabric that has been manufactured from recycled plastic bottles.

Each Trutex blazer saves around 36 plastic bottles from ending up in a landfi ll site and boys trousers, 19 bottles.
