Barbara Stümer and Maria Palmer of Wilcom Europe provide some stand out tips on how to embroider above the rear pocket on tailored trousers, shorts and skorts.

E

mbroidered logos don’t only belong on the front of polo shirts. If your aim is maximum exposure, don’t forget the rear or back position.

An overlooked embroidery position is the rear of tailored trousers, shorts, or skorts. Common for sports organisations, tournaments, and competitions such as golf, lawn bowls, and many more. • The position is usually above the pocket on the right-hand side.

• Frame with the pocket closed, ensuring the pocket bag (if any) is fl at and does not catch when embroidered.

• Use the smallest hoop possible. Sometimes, it’s impossible to have the top of the pant entirely in the loop. If necessary, we recommend

using a pin to fi x the waistband to the backing and ensure the fabric is taut.

• Decrease or simplify the logo to a maximum of 4cm in height (or measure space available). Always get approval fi rst. • Set the start point at the bottom centre

of the embroidery to line up with the upper-middle edge of the pocket, ensuring a centred logo every time.

• Use tear-away backing (suitable for most fabric types) to keep the embroidery fl exible.
