Efteling announces completion of Dragon Tower attraction

Efteling the fairytale theme park in the south of Holland revealed new images of the Nest! play forest in April, ahead of the park’s opening on 17 May.

The dragon tower is now complete with 14 dragon teeth. The tower, which houses two slides, embodies a dragon, with dragon teeth and a dragon tongue that forms one of the slides. Besides the dragon theme, visitors to Nest! will also encounter other recognisable elements from the exciting Ruigrijk area of the park. The playground equipment in the play forest is surrounded by an 80 metre- long wooden board walk, which is wheelchair friendly. All children can play there together safely and to their hearts’ content.

Many natural materials have been used in the

construction of Nest!. All the play equipment fits in perfectly with the woody environment of the surrounding Ruigrijk area, where many of Efteling’s roller coasters are located. It will therefore give a natural feeling with as little stimuli as possible from outside. For the durability of Nest! play forest, certified Robinia wood is used for all elements.

Longest head-first racing zip line course in USA set to open

Chula Vista Resort, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, is adding Soar Like an Eagle, the Midwest’s first racing prone zipline course, to Dells Zipline Adventures, the outdoor aerial park complex at the resort. Participants race “flying superhero style” down nearly 2,000 feet (610 m) of parallel ziplines into the forests along the Wisconsin River. “Thrill seekers will be wowed by both the stunning course and flying superhero style through the natural dense forests along the river,” said Krissy. “The Soar Like an Eagle course is the longest duo racing zip line course in the United States and the only prone race course sending racers into a forest. We’re so proud to have it here at Chula Vista Resort.”

Built by Friede & Associates, this new racing prone course officially opens 29 May. Chula Vista Resort anticipates offering trial runs for race enthusiasts to experience this new thrill attraction on weekends beginning mid-April and weekdays beginning mid-May with reservation, weather permitting.

Soar Like an Eagle is a 10-story high racing competition that stretches nearly a half mile between three towers. From 100 feet (30 m) in the air, racers fly prone (flat on belly, face first, superhero style) on dual parallel race ziplines into the forest. The entire course is a combination of traditional sitting and new prone zipping.

Dells Zipline Adventures offers challenges for participants at every age and skill level. The new Soar Like an Eagle racing zipline course is the newest of the 18 ziplines and four aerial rope courses set within Dells Zipline Adventure. The zipline and aerial rope courses are split into three distinct experiences. These include the Soar Like an Eagle racing experience, the Canyon Pass Course including 12 ziplines and four aerial bridges where guests climb 50 feet (15 m) in the air, and the Berry’s Landing Course with five zipline and four rope courses from five to 40 feet (2 – 12 m) in the air.
