As part of PortAventura World’s social commitment to offer inclusive leisure, ‘Uncharted: The Enigma of Penitence’ has developed an exclusive experience for visitors with functional diversity. This is a virtual reality space where they can delve into the story of the attraction as if they had been on the ride. In addition, the roller coaster has barrier-free access.
the Intamin coaster experience which follows has a lot to live up to once guests arrive at the vehicle station - and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. As riders take their seats in the 12-seater vehicles - which enable
drifting manoeuvres thanks to their controlled spinning capabilities - an exhilarating 1 minute and 46 seconds lies ahead of them. The dark coaster comprises 673 metres of track, with a maximum height of 12 metres, so it is actually fairly compact - but it packs a punch. Carried into the waiting darkness, guests find themselves accelerating,
temple proves increasingly perilous as guests must negotiate relentless traps and challenges - from flying arrows to spikes, pits and mind boggling puzzles - while passing the remains of unfortunate past explorers along the way. Nate is halted by Landon Killbride and his henchmen, while a cloud
of green hallucinogenic gas sees Chloe morph into an Aztec warrior apparition - and guests are left to complete the quest for Aztec gold themselves. This highly immersive pre-show element constitutes some serious build-up; it doesn’t seem like it, but it lasts an entire hour. That means

braking, spinning, and running for their lives as they are chased by Landon Killbride and his henchmen. Cutting-edge technology enables riders to enjoy a truly multi-faceted
ride with elements such as a 360-degree rotating platform, a 15-metre- high inverted free fall with a perilous 70-degree include, an inverted launch, and a sideways drop. And all the while, awe-inspiring special and audiovisual effects make immersive experiences of no less than 29 key moments from the Uncharted movie. It is the aforementioned 15-metre free fall which constitutes the climax
of the ride, as Killbride’s helicopter escape attempt is thwarted by a bomb blast. As adventurers return to the safety of the station, the coaster might end in a drop but riders definitely leave on a high.
