MARKET REPORT: ASIA PACIFIC
– Universal Studios Singapore is expecting to open the Minion Land on February 14, 2025. Minion Land will feature the world’s first-ever Minion 3D ride, themed dining, exclusive merchandise, and entertainment. It’s inspired by the “Despicable Me” franchise and will take over the former Madagascar ride.
– The Mandai Resorts in Singapore (with the famous Singapore Zoo and Night Safari) is expected to open its 5th theme park experience Rainforest Wild Asia in 2025. This is expected to be a highly immersive experience of rainforest environments.
– In Vietnam, Sun Group continues to go from strength to strength upgrading and expanding their attractions, resorts and experiences. They are benefiting from a strong domestic tourism and international
tourism market. Their new show - Kiss of the Sea - designed by ECA2 in Phu Quoc won a THEA award.
Japan – The latest addition to Universal Studios Japan in Osaka is the Donkey Kong Country area, which officially opened on December 11, 2024. This new section is part of the expanded Super Nintendo World and features the main attraction, Mine Cart Madness, a thrilling roller coaster ride inspired by the iconic mine cart levels from the Donkey Kong video games.
– Tokyo Disney continued to roll out attractions and hospitality offerings at their major Fantasy Springs expansion project at Disneysea. Frozen theme land opened to great success in 2024. Two fully themed and integrated hospitality offerings opened, including an ultra-luxury
boutique hotel and full-scale theme resort hotel. Disney is in particular benefiting from a surge in international tourism to Japan. Japan has become a top destination within the Asia region.
– Ghibli theme park successfully opened more theme zones with limited admission tickets selling out quickly. The Ghibli theme park is located within the Aichi Expo site East of Nagoya.
Korea – In Korea, digital media art exhibitions are having strong runs, particularly in integrated reports. Inspire Resort opened a very large indoor art, media and science attraction called Le Space.
– Everland is doing more cooperations with media and IP brands for temporary exhibitions including a Netflix Stranger Things area.
