New Botswana Gambling Equipment Standards Now Available for Purchase


The Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) has officially announced the availability of newly published Gambling Equipment Standards, which were gazetted on April 12, 2024. These standards are now available for purchase, marking a significant step forward in the regulation and oversight of the gambling industry in Botswana. The newly released standards cover various aspects of gambling equipment, including casino equipment, monitoring and control systems, jackpot equipment, limited payout machines, and record-keeping software. This initiative aligns with the Gambling Authority’s ongoing efforts to ensure that gambling activities in Botswana

are conducted in a fair, transparent, and regulated manner.


Stakeholders in the gambling industry, including casino operators, gaming equipment manufacturers, and software developers, are encouraged to purchase these standards to ensure compliance with the latest regulatory requirements. The publication of these standards demonstrates Botswana’s commitment to maintaining high standards in the gambling industry, promoting responsible gaming practices, and protecting consumers. The Gambling Authority continues to work closely with BOBS and other stakeholders to ensure the ongoing development and enforcement of these standards.


888Africa Partners with Checkd Dev in Africa


Checkd Dev, a sports betting technology specialist and part of Checkd Group, has expanded its Smart Acca product into the African market through a new partnership with 888Africa. This marks Checkd Dev’s first venture into Africa, with the innovative football accumulator betting tool now available in Angola and Zambia, with further rollouts planned across 888Africa’s platforms during the 2024-25 football season. The Smart Acca product, integrated into the Betlion and 888bets websites, is designed to enhance the accumulator betting experience for recreational players across Africa. Leveraging Checkd Dev’s advanced API, the product allows users to build accumulator bets tailored to the preferences and betting habits of African markets.


To enrich the betting experience, Smart Acca utilizes Opta data visualizations, providing key football metrics such as team form in an easily accessible format. The tool offers both a self-serve accumulator builder and a carousel of pre-built accumulator bets, all supported by official Opta data. These pre- selected bets can be added to a betslip with a single click, creating a seamless experience for bettors.
