The clocks have now gone back here in the UK and things are defi nitely getting very much colder and darker, which is in HUGE contrast to the bright lights and warm climate Las Vegas provided for G2E. It already feels like a distant memory but was a great trip for me as t’was not only my fi rst time back in Vegas after about 15 years away but also my fi rst G2E.

I had – however – forgotten that the gambling masses are fee to smoke like chimneys while gaming, so (obviously) returned home with a raw throat and a nasty cold! Filthy habit (as my dad would say). Obviously once you’re locked away in the halls you could be anywhere in the world, but sneaking out now and then to feel the sun on my face was a welcome break ICE could never offer (until Barcelona that is!) I was fl attered to be asked to join Interblock’s John Connelly as a moderator for one of the Monday speaker sessions, getting me properly into the swing of things (and giving me the chance to check that my suit still fi t). From Tuesday onwards it was full-on, with an appointment pretty much every 30 minutes each day until we escaped back into the waning sun and prepared for an evening of fast food and faster beer (I can’t believe I didn’t get invited to a single party - bloody press status!). It was great to catch up with all the guys and girls who normally just exist as email addresses, as well as see some new products in action. You’ll get to see everything in our G2E Review pages, but for me a personal highlight was having a boogie in front of IGT’s Whitney Houston machine (I’d watched “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” on the fl ight over, so was well in the mood!). As always, this month’s issue is packed with the usual great coverage from around the world, with a couple of extra treats thrown in for good measure. I am - of course - talking about a photo of my feet.

Enjoy looking for them.
