Grupo Orenes inaugura Gran Casino Viejo San Juan
El Grupo Orenes, con sede en España, inauguró Gran Casino Viejo San Juan en Puerto Rico, marcando la primera operación de la compañía en el Caribe y reforzando su actividad internacional en el segmento de casinos. El Gran Casino Viejo San Juan cuenta con 64 máquinas y 10 mesas de juego, incluyendo blackjack, Mini Baccarat EZ, World Poker Tour Heads Up, ruleta americana y craps.
La apertura, celebrada el jueves 30 de abril, se realizó tras una inversión de US$11 millones y refleja la estrategia del grupo de expandirse en mercados internacionales mediante proyectos centrados en calidad, excelencia operativa y experiencias cuidadosamente diseñadas para el cliente. La puesta en marcha requirió un trabajo coordinado entre distintas áreas de la compañía, con el objetivo de consolidar una base sólida para su crecimiento. El nuevo casino generó 90 empleos directos y 120 indirectos, contribuyendo a la actividad económica de Viejo San Juan.
Con este proyecto, Orenes refuerza su actividad en Puerto Rico, un destino con importante peso turístico y una oferta de ocio vinculada al entretenimiento, la hostelería y el juego. El casino está ubicado al lado del Hotel Rumbao, en una de las zonas turísticas más reconocidas de la isla.

Grupo Orenes opens Gran Casino Viejo San Juan
Spain’s Orenes Group inaugurated Gran Casino Viejo San Juan in Puerto Rico, marking the company’s first operation in the Caribbean and reinforcing its international activity in the casino sector. The casino features 64 machines and 10 table games, including blackjack, Mini Baccarat EZ, World Poker Tour Heads Up, American roulette and craps. The opening, held on Thursday, April 30, followed an investment of US$11 million and reflects the group’s strategy to expand into international markets through projects focused on quality, operational excellence and carefully designed customer experiences. The start-up required coordinated work between different areas of the company, with the aim of consolidating a solid base for its growth. The new casino has created 90 direct jobs and 120 indirect jobs, contributing to the economic activity of Old San Juan.
With this project, Orenes reinforces its activity in Puerto Rico, a destination with significant tourist weight and a leisure offer linked to entertainment, hospitality and gambling. The casino is located next to Rumbao Hotel, in one of the most renowned tourist areas of the island.

Diputados aprueban proyecto de Ley para la prevención de ludopatía, regulación de juegos de azar y apuestas en línea
Durante la sesión del miércoles 20 de mayo de 2026, la Cámara de Diputados de la Nación argentina aprobó el proyecto de ley para la prevención de ludopatía y regulación de juegos de azar y apuestas en línea. Asimismo, la Cámara de Diputados de la Nación aprobó el proyecto de ley que busca regular los juegos de azar y apuestas en línea y prevenir la ludopatía. Con 139 votos a favor, 36 en contra y 59 abstenciones, el proyecto fue aprobado y seguirá su tratamiento en la Cámara de Senadores.
El texto de la ley que en su Artículo 1 explica que su objeto es “regular la publicidad y promoción de sitios y plataformas de juegos de azar y apuestas en línea, a los fines de la prevención y asistencia de la ludopatía en resguardo de la salud pública en adultos, niñas, niños y adolescentes, en todo el territorio de la República Argentina”, surge del trabajo en conjunto de más de 150 diputados pertenecientes a cinco comisiones de la Cámara de Diputados de la Nación: Prevención de adicciones y control del narcotráfico; Acción social y salud pública; Comunicaciones e informática; Legislación penal; y Familias, niñez y juventudes. Este proyecto se trabajó durante todo el año 2024 y obtuvo dictamen de mayoría el pasado 13 de noviembre.

Lower House approves Online Betting and Gambling Harm Prevention Bill
Argentina’s Lower House has approved a bill for the prevention of gambling harm and the regulation of online gambling and betting. The proposal was passed with 139 votes in favour, 36 against and 59 abstentions, and will now continue its legislative process in the Senate.
“This is not a law for the prevention of gambling addiction and regulation of online gambling for minors: it is a law of regulation and prevention for society as a whole, because kids do come in off a flying saucer, they are part, and above all, a product of a society of adults,” stated Rep. Rogelio Iparraguirre, vice president of the Commission for the Prevention of Addictions and Control of Drug Trafficking. . The bill seeks to regulate the advertising and promotion of online gambling and betting platforms throughout Argentina, with the stated aim of preventing and assisting gambling disorders in adults, children and adolescents as a matter of public health. The initiative was developed through joint work involving more than 150 Representatives, plus organizations representing Addiction Prevention and Drug Trafficking Control, Social Action and Public Health, Communications and IT, Criminal Legislation, and Families, Children and Youth. Among the main provisions, the bill establishes a ban on online betting advertising, predictions and sports betting promotion across media outlets, social networks, public spaces, journalists, influencers and streamers. It also prohibits minors from accessing online gambling and betting sites and platforms.
