Editor’s comment
I know what you’re thinking: “Jon’s hair has grown.” No, the legendary Bruford is doing other things now, so I’ve moved into the warm spot he left behind (which, worryingly, also feels a little damp and smells like asparagus). Some of you may remember me as the editor of GIO as I launched and then edited our iGaming section for a good seven years before that devilish cad COVID came and spoilt my fun. Everything, however, appears to have worked out for the
best as we now have the awesome Anjali looking after GIO while I don a more Managing Editor-shaped hat. In case you’re still reading (thank you) my background is
varied: I started in publishing in the early 90s, spent 17 years in the video games industry enjoying such positions as International Director of Communications for Atari and European Marketing Director at Midway Games. I then sullied my C.V. by becoming a TV presenter and commentator in the world of poker. I’m also a singer, bassists, and beekeeper (FACT). I’m genuinely excited at the thought of embracing the
world of gaming and gambling beyond the “i” variety, particularly as I’m not used to having anything solid to touch (you don’t get leather chairs or drinkable White Russians online). I look forward to meeting everyone I don’t know, as well as catching up with old chums. Oh look, here comes ICE; how convenient. Be seeing you.
