OPENBOX GAMING

doubling function to make the game more fun and exciting. That is just a small cross-section, there are lots more.

GIO: How will you be selecting which games to bring to European players - will it be based on financial performance or are you looking for something else? RH: Financial performance will undoubtedly be a big driver, as it is with any product that you take to a new market. But we’ve also got a good appreciation of what is popular in European markets, so we will make sure complementary games are prominent too. As ever, having variety to suit the different tastes of a wide player base is the key.

GIO: What products from Europe do you anticipate will work well in Asian markets? Are you thinking slots, or mostly table/live dealer products? RH: I think slots will certainly be the core offering, but there is no reason why other types of RNG games, board games, live casino and even sports can’t be integrated. Different players in different markets like different products – there is as much, if not more, variety than there is in Europe. The Jewel in the crown at our end, and the reason that integrations are so simple and so fast, is our proprietary Software Development Kit API which is up and running with just one integration. Suppliers can have their own remote game server or use ours – it is hassle-free.

GIO: Will European product have to be tweaked to work with Asian customers? RH: I don’t see why. Local languages and local currencies aside, the mechanics are the same the world over. Don’t forget, Asian players are very used to playing a wide variety of games. It is not as if playing games developed in Europe is going to come as a great shock or revelation to them! What Openbox Gaming does is simply give the studios that haven’t been able to penetrate these markets almost instant access to these players.

GIO DECEMBER 2021 9

GIO: Which Asian markets are key? Will you be working solely in regulated markets in the region? RH: We have access to the biggest operators in all the important markets. Just like in Europe and the United States, regulatory status is changing all the time. But we have a long enough presence in the market to work out what is and what isn’t doable. As well as acting as the bridge and a technological enabler to our supplier partners, we are very happy to act as their guide too.
