stamos escribiendo esta nota horas antes de partir rumbo a la Heroica Cartagena de las Indias, donde a fines de marzo se inicia la temporada de eventos latinoamericanos y caribeños de la industria del Juego. En verdad, durante los meses de abril y junio nada


menos que siete eventos más reunirán a los profesionales del Gaming presencial y digital, con Sagse Latam en abril, y seguido de CGS Bahamas y la Cumbre Iberoamericana del Juego en Panamá durante mayo, mientras que PGS, Lima, Perú, BiS, Sao Paulo, Brasil, y iGaming Central América, Costa Rica, serán en junio. Como se dice, va a haber de todo en la región.


Uno de los temas a seguir va a ser relacionado con aspectos en nuevo proyecto de Ley para juegos de azar en Curazao, donde el primer sector del juego legalizado bajo esta nueva ley será el juego a distancia, es decir el online. El régimen de juego actual en Curazao es considerado uno de los más liberales del mundo, con bajos costos y requisitos mínimos para abrir un casino, así como una supervisión bien amigable para los negocios, por esto, no es sorprendente que alrededor de 450 empresas de todo el mundo hayan elegido obtener una licencia en el país, y ese número ha seguido creciendo con regularidad. Ante esta situación, la Junta de Control del Juego de Curazao ha anunciado planes para crear un nuevo e independiente regulador, la Autoridad de Juegos de Curazao, la cual reemplazará a la agencia reguladora existente. Además, en lugar del sistema anterior, y las empresas que ya hayan sido autorizadas bajo el régimen anterior tendrán la oportunidad de registrarse en el nuevo formato durante un período de transición de 18 meses. Ya iremos informando. Mientras tanto, en Colombia, Roger José Carrillo Campo es designado presidente de Coljuegos, mediante decreto del Ministerio de Hacienda y Crédito Público, en reemplazo de Cesar Augusto Valencia.

e are writing these lines a few days before leaving for the Heroic City of Cartagena, Colombia, where at the end of March the season of Latin American and Caribbean gaming events begins. In fact, during the


months of April to June no less than seven more events will bring land-based and digital gaming professionals together. Beginning with Sagse Latam in April, followed by CGS Bahamas and the Ibero-American Gaming Summit in Panama during May; while PGS, Lima, Peru, BiS, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and iGaming Central America, Costa Rica, all taking place in June. We’ll be spoilt for choice!


One of the sure topics in discussion is sure to be related to aspects of the new draft Law for gambling in Curaçao, where the first area to be under scrutiny in the new law will be remote gambling, that is, online gambling. The current gambling regime in Curacao is considered one of the most liberal in the world, with low costs and minimum requirements for opening a casino, as well as very business-friendly supervision, so it is not surprising that around 450 companies around the world have chosen to obtain a licence in the country. And that number has continued to grow steadily. The Curaçao Gaming Control Board has announced plans to create a new, independent regulator, the Curaçao Gaming Authority, which will replace the existing regulatory agency. In addition,


companies that have already been authorized under the previous regime will have the opportunity to register under the new format during a transitional 18-month period.
