Professional leagues have set the wheels in motion for the potential state law changes around gambling. It is set to be an over $6 billion annual opportunity in the U.S. regulated sports betting market by 2023 with only a subset of states participating. All the athletic leagues are driven by revenue and each will see this change as a massive money-making opportunity. The National Basketball Association (NBA) stated in January this year they propose to take 1% of every wager placed. The NFL has suggested a similar 1% skim to ensure the
integrity of gambling in American Football is upheld. Some key commentators around the sport have raised eyebrows at this given the league’s ongoing issues around Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid collusion cases, domestic violence, Performance Enhancing Drugs and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. NFL viewing figures have also been on the decline in
recent years and adding sports betting to a vertical like Thursday night football could bring new audiences. Millions more people would tune into to a mundane game on a Thursday if big profits were on the table. Introducing legal sports betting into American sports
culture will see a shift in user personalities as people adapt to money making opportunities. RotoQL expects to foster a
