Ahhhhhhhh Christmas. I used to be bah, humbug about it all – and I still am, just more quietly so the kids don’t hear. As I write this, the UK is at the polls to decide the country’s next leaders, and Christmas could be a very different experience for the next several years. If sections of the UK media are to be believed, we will be lucky to get a piece of coal in our Christmas stockings – assuming we have any stockings that haven’t been stolen by all those pesky migrants on the beg. The reality for the UK is wildly different from that

presented by the media, to the extent that I feel some shame to be associated with the profession, even if obliquely. Our leaders and would-be leaders are unashamedly lying, knowing that by the time they apologise – if they do – the lie will be out there like an earworm, and the real work will be done by Joe Public on social media. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; the world has never needed people to look outward more than it does right now. Whatever your politics, whatever your beliefs, love is universal. Go spread the love, and have a wonderful Christmas – or whatever you might be celebrating. Enjoy the issue!
