INDUSTRY VIEWS An eye for detail
“Showrooms are a key part of the bathroom industry and provide a vital link between manufacturers and customers. Making the most out of showroom spaces with design is, and always has been, essential to ensuring potential customers get hands-on experiences with products and help them make more informed decisions. “Communicating that message properly is important and it’s surprising how overlooked correct
product displays can be – it’s not just about making them visually striking, but also ensuring customers know what the product is, how it operates and its key features. Clearly signposting clever features like water-saving properties and soft close lids, doors and drawers can also work wonders. “Ultimately, there are a lot of little things to consider in showroom design – different mirror
heights for potential customers, well-lit entrance ways, and customer amenities in the space. This includes bathrooms and children’s play areas too, as these can heavily impact a guest’s experience and change how they see a showroom and the products inside.”
Comment by Charlie Williams, Design Manager for Interiors and Fit Out, Ideal Standard Heading into Winter…
The last few weeks have seen the news headlines focus on rising energy costs and strikes over wages. Both issues going hand in hand. With Autumn on the doorstep and Winter on the horizon the days will
soon become shorter and inevitably much colder. No manufacturer, distributor or retailer will escape the inevitable and astronomical increases in their energy costs and the pressures to increase wages as inflation soars past 13% will be unavoidable. On the 8th April 1992 The Sun ran the famous headline, ‘If Kinnock wins today will the last person to leave Britain please turn out the lights’; perhaps the headline could be rerun but replace lights with candles because not only is there no support from the government there is not even a plan.

Chic and unique finishes in the bathroom
Increasingly homeowners are wanting to refresh their bathroom space without the hassle of a full overhaul. Therefore, we have observed an increasing desire for variety in bathroom tap finishes. Of course, chrome is a classic reliable choice, but manufacturers must offer so many more options nowadays to keep the market interested. Black finishes, for instance, are extremely popular, they can instantly make
the room more modern, refined and serve to make staple ceramics brighter and whiter by contrast. In fact, black finishes are extremely popular in smaller washrooms and ensuites as against clean white surfaces they can make a room appear bigger. Whether the
consumer picks brushed brass, vintage gold or solid black, simply switching taps is sure to revitalise a room, especially when paired with a matching shower set. We don’t forecast this trend dying down anytime soon.
