Ideal Bathrooms – coming up with the goods

Ideal Bathrooms has increased its Milton Keynes distribution centre capacity by 50%

This development has also meant a 25% increase in distribution staff to keep up with the demand. The new facility is purpose designed for maximum efficiency. Capacity has increased due to aisle widths being reduced by using narrow aisle racking and the use of “bendy” forklift vehicles which can operate in less space.

Franke announces the winner of its sponsorship opportunity

Franke has selected the winner of its More in Store competition to find a candidate to study the Foundation Degree in Kitchen Design at Bucks New University.

The selected candidate benefits from a 50% scholarship from Franke for the duration of the three-year distance learning degree which is being backed by the kitchen industry through the formation of The Kitchen Education Trust (TKET), which helps shape the course content covering design, sales, marketing, business, production, installation, psychology and an understanding of related design industries.

The winner is Natalie Peters, who works for her family’s business Kitchens Etc based in North Creake, Norfolk which has been established for over 30 years and specialises in bespoke kitchen furniture. Natalie joined the business straight from school and has gained wide experience across a range of roles.

Impressively the whole project from possession of the empty new site to full operation was completed in just 7 weeks which, the

company acknowledges, was due to the dedication and commitment of the whole operations team. Ideal Bathrooms now holds £9million worth of key branded bathroom products across its four distribution centres.

As part of their continued improvement philosophy, Ideal Bathrooms have also introduced hand held terminal (HHT) technology for warehouse operatives for barcode scanning and up to the minute stock control, with faster check-in and check-out recording.
