Wetrooms: an increasingly popular option for small bathroom spaces
“Over recent years, wet rooms have become an increasingly popular option for homeowners. Modern, sleek and space-saving, they are also the perfect option for homeowners looking to create bathroom spaces suitable for all the family.
“Retailers have a real opportunity here to help homeowners create their desired look no matter how big or small their bathroom space is. For example, floor-even showers can play a huge part in a wet room design as they enable barrier-free access to the shower area. Combined with a discreet linear drain, this can ensure a flawless design, while still being functional.
“Wall-hung bathroom ceramics, such as toilets and basins, can also streamline the appearance of a wet room. By lifting bathroom furniture off the floor, the space will feel less cluttered and create the illusion of a more spacious bathroom. It also has the added bonus of being easier to clean and maintain – something every homeowner wants!”
The Changing Arena of Wall Panelling
The landscape is changing when it comes to the world of wall panelling, with the industry moving to Exterior Grade MDF as the core board of choice. This is a conscious decision by businesses and manufacturers which are constantly
evolving to meet the needs of customers, never more so than when it comes to offering sustainable products and
continuity of supply. As we have all experienced recently, global events can have a real effect on supply chains, reducing availability and extending lead times, and we have

a responsibility to ensure that we’re offering our customers the very best service, and products, that we can.
By buying products from a company that manufactures here in the UK, consumers and retailers can not only make more sustainable, lower carbon choices, they can also be more confident that products will be supplied on time to suit their project timescales – a win-win solution for everyone.
Comment by Greg Austin, Product Manager, Geberit It Pays to Stay Refreshed!
With KBB trends moving faster than ever, it has never been more important for bathroom retailers to keep product ranges and displays up-to-date if they want to attract more customers into showrooms to maximise sales. Now more than ever, consumer tastes are influenced by ‘fast’ social media, and they will make great effort to seek out what they have just seen, what’s ‘trending’ and this can be taken advantage of.
Bathroom distributors are meeting this need, responding rapidly to launch new product styles - such as in the furniture sector, where the pace of product development is currently so high. As in our spring bathroom launch, designs are taking inspiration from new combinations of materials, textures and colours, such as soft-fluted finishes, natural marble-effects and clever storage solutions. It is important retailers bring products like these to the attention of customers fast or risk losing out to those that do. As we know, tools like virtual showrooms can help, allowing access to see many more styles and designs than was ever possible before, with augmented reality also allowing them to be visualised in situ too.
So, think refresh – change displays and products as often as practical, use the available technology to showcase even more products, and take advice from bathroom suppliers on what is on-trend, where fashion is heading and what’s selling.
Staying one step ahead of the competition, by offering the latest styles, is one of the true sales differentiators today.
