mall bathrooms are the norm in most UK properties, and whilst designing compact bathrooms can be challenging, it can also be very rewarding. Making the most of the available space whilst ensuring the bathroom remains functional, practical, and aesthetically pleasing is essential to making a good design great. Selecting the right products is paramount. Compact products such as short projection basins or wall mounted toilets and installing a shower instead of a bath can give lots more space in a small area. Choose space-saving storage solutions. Tall WC and Wall Units offer a place to store essential bathroom cleaning products, whilst Basin Units with drawers or doors provide lots of hidden storage for cosmetics and can also hide those unsightly but necessary plumbing pipes.
Colour and light can make a huge difference to enhance a feeling of space in a compact bathroom. Using light colours and adding impact lighting and mirrors can make a small space seem more spacious, bright, and extremely functional.
Large format tiles or even better, wall panels are more hygienic make cleaning much easier and can make ceilings feel higher, particularly if you paint the upper part of the wall the same colour as the ceiling. Avoid overhead lighting, use spotlights, mirror lights or wall lights and large mirrors to enlarge the room.
Always remove unnecessary items, de clutter and only keep the essential items on display in a compact bathroom to save space and make it a relaxing zone.
A sliding door can save space compared to a traditional swinging door, however, if a sliding door isn’t an option, you could use offset or rounded furniture to allow for the door to open with ease.
