remium shower enclosure brand marks a quarter century in the bathroom industry with continued commitment to excellence

This year marks the 25th anniversary of MERLYN, the award-winning showering brand renowned for its beautifully designed, high-performing enclosures. Founded in Kilkenny, Ireland in 2000 by Michael Hoyne, MERLYN has grown to become a trusted name in premium bathroom solutions across the UK, Ireland and internationally. Now part of Norcros PLC, MERLYN continues to operate with its original leadership team under CEO Charlie Soden and retains its proud design and operational base in Kilkenny. With over 120 employees across Ireland, the UK and Globally, MERLYN is known in the industry for setting new standards in both engineering and aesthetics, a reputation best illustrated by the cutting-edge Arysto X range, which redefines frameless showering with its minimalist lines, ultra-clear glass and undisputed luxury. “As we celebrate 25 years, we remain committed to our customers, our partners and the pursuit of excellence in everything we do,” says Charlie Soden, CEO. “This milestone is about looking back at our achievements and looking ahead to an exciting future of continued growth, innovation and purpose”.

MERLYN is one of only a handful of bathroom brands to now offer a lifetime guarantee across its entire product range, a decision made to reflect the confidence the company has in its craftsmanship, and to reassure trade and retail partners of the long-term value in recommending MERLYN products.

With a new era of product development and design investment under way, 2025 looks set to be a defining year for MERLYN and its network of retailers, installers, and specifiers. The MERLYN team look forward to celebrating this fantastic achievement in June with a Company Update followed by BBQ party and awards.

BiKBBI – After all, what’s in a name?

n May we announced that BiKBBI will be changing its name to the British Institute of Fitted Interiors Specialists (BIFIS). The change of name is driven by several strategic factors including the important work we continue to develop within the Fitted Interiors Apprenticeship and our leading role within the Fitted Interiors Construction & RMI Super Sector review. The change will also coincide with a number of a planned strategic initiatives as the institute approaches its 20th Anniversary.

I

The name change, which will be implemented in October 2025, will follow the implementation of some subtle but significant changes to the institute’s proposition for key stakeholders, following a period of extensive research, the results of which were published earlier this month. I offer my thanks to all of those stakeholders that supported our research and review project. Whilst the name will change, the organisation will remain our industry’s institute and, therefore, the feedback received has been instrumental to the development of our proposition, ensuring that we continue to positively impact the industry.

The change of name to BIFIS will enable the institute to build upon almost two decades of impressive industry reputation and support ongoing ambitions including building greater consumer awareness.

Damian Walters CEO, BiKBBI
