COMPONENTS INC. HEATING & LIGHTING Wes McKenna
Uform
BKU’s Matt Broughton caught up with Uform’s Group Sales & Marketing Director, Wes McKenna.
025 has started really well for Uform, with the company seeing strong year-on-year growth, especially in the last quarter. Wes McKenna takes me through the year so far: “The market is still tough and quite price-sensitive, but our customers prioritise service above all else. Our growth is a direct result of an expanded customer base and a wider product offering that now includes bedrooms, living spaces, storage solutions, and bins. We’re excited about how far we’ve come and are ready to tackle the challenges ahead.”

This year, Uform’s strategic goals focus on enhancing customer service across the UK. A top priority is increasing accessibility and convenience through improved technology and expanded location coverage. “We launched our first Click & Collect depot in Derby in early 2024 and have since added three more locations: Birmingham, Manchester, and North East (Seaham),” explains Wes. “These depots enhance speed and efficiency, providing trade customers quicker access to products. By prioritising these initiatives, we aim to reinforce our position as an industry leader and deliver greater value to our customers.”
Uform is currently focusing on innovation, particularly expanding its door range to meet
market demand for design-led options. “We’re excited about an upcoming door style that offers a modern take on a classic shaker design, available in sanded and painted finishes, along with various accessories,” says Wes. “This versatile option aims to attract customers seeking style and flexibility. Additionally, we have several more product launches planned, all designed to address our clients’ evolving needs for style, functionality, and outstanding project results.”
When asked about the standout product from the last few years, Wes highlights the Pembridge range: “It features a contemporary narrow frame shaker style with a subtle bead detail and a premium foil that resembles authentic painted timber at an attractive price. Available in five popular colours – Porcelain, Light Grey, Taupe Grey, Indigo, and Reed Green – it suits various styles. For a tailored touch, it’s offered as a Made to Order option, allowing customisation of sizes and features. Pembridge excels in durability and value, making it a smart choice for both trade customers and homeowners.”
So far in 2025, the company has noticed some interesting trends among its customers. Given the price-sensitive nature of the market, there’s been a notable increase in demand for 5-piece foil doors, especially those featuring innovation like Uform’s Pembridge door. At the same time, consumers are looking for more tailored designs and are
willing to invest more to get exactly what they want. Wes explains: “Our Made to Measure service has seen significant demand in both foil and timber doors, which I believe is a trend that will continue for the foreseeable future. It seems that customers who prioritise service, innovation, and maintain an active social media presence are the ones who seem to be winning.”
Sustainability is a priority at Uform, and the company is making significant strides to meet the demand for eco-friendly practices. “Our Toomebridge facility focuses on reducing waste and energy through smart automation and lean processes. Our products are FIRA Gold certified, our timbers are FSC®-C113193 certified and all paint waste is recycled. We’re set to install a water-based priming line in August to lower VOC emissions and have implemented solvent recovery to minimise waste. Additionally, our factory utilises real-time energy monitoring and is nearing the completion of a rooftop solar system to produce renewable energy.”
Wes is braced for the market to be tough throughout the rest of 2025 but says that they are already seeing positive signs emerging: “For Uform, we have an exciting programme of innovation lined up in the coming months. Alongside our new depot collection points, our main focus is to ensure we provide our customers with the choice and service they need to win more business.”
